The Study of music contributes to a sense of achievement and self worth.
It aids in the development of coordination and self-discipline and provides a lifetime of enjoyment. Learning to play a musical instrument can be one of the most rewarding experiences in life. There are so many rewards in playing the piano such as:
*Developing more self-esteem and confidence
*creativity and self-expression
*intellectual growth and maturity
*perseverance toward a long-term goal
*poise, coordination, discipline, concentration and satisfaction with a job well done.
It is my goal to foster a love for music in each student and provide a solid foundation in keyboard technique and musicianship so that students are empowered to explore the various styles. I do my best to encourage and challenge each individual with a well rounded curriculum which includes different styles of repertoire, theory, improvisation, ear training, sight reading and performance opportunities.
Although I believe that pianists need to be familiar with classical repertoire, I also incorporate music to fit each student's individual interests that may also include popular, jazz, ragtime, religious, folk tunes etc. By providing the students with the tools needed in learning this art, it is my goal to help them develop their full potential and use their imagination as well as have fun playing the piano.
